Coronavirus Update 19.03.20
Posted on: 19/03/202019th March 2020
Dear Families,
Re Coronavirus
The Government announced yesterday that from Monday 23rd March schools are being asked to provide childcare for children of key workers and those who are vulnerable. We have just received the criteria for key workers from the government. Thank you to those families that completed the survey today. We have one more being completed for the morning which involves teachers specifically.
If one parent is a key worker, the government will expect the other parent to have their child at home. Single parents who are key workers will be entitled to use the school service.
Can I please stress that in the efforts to reduce social interactions to limit the spread of the disease, this service is to be used to allow key workers to continue to go to work only. This will need to be a regular commitment and not an ad-hoc drop off facility.
We are intent on providing this service so that key workers can continue to support the effort against the coronavirus outbreak, but we are operating on increasingly reduced staffing levels as more and more of our colleagues are forced to self-isolate. I am sure that you will appreciate that this means we will have to consider the safety and welfare of all the staff at our school along with their families; being overstretched may mean that we will be unable to continue the service. Please help us by considering whether this service is absolutely essential for you.
With regards to external exams, what is clear is that these have been cancelled. We expect further updates tomorrow and will then be able to provide greater clarity on how students and young people will be awarded the examination results that they deserve.
It has been an extremely turbulent and emotional time and I would like to thank everyone for their messages of support and encouragement during this period.
Yours sincerely
K Pacey
