Partial school closure
Posted on: 16/03/2020Dear Families,
Coronavirus – partial school closure
I have been keeping the impact of Coronavirus on the staffing situation under close scrutiny with my leadership team and have tonight, following the most up to date guidance, reluctantly reached the conclusion that, as a result of widespread staff illness and self-isolation, I can no longer safely keep the school open to all students.
As a result, Year 11 and 13 students will be prioritised in order to support them in their preparation for their forthcoming external examinations. Students in Year 11 and 13 should, therefore, attend school as normal in full school uniform, ensuring they bring all the required resources for their timetabled lessons. All other year groups will not be able to attend school.
These arrangements will be reviewed daily, and if it is necessary to alter them, we will give you as much notice as we are able to.
Year groups that are unable to attend school will be set tasks appropriate for their age and ability, distributed as outlined in a previous communication. We will work throughout the day tomorrow to ensure that resources are uploaded on Show My Homework. Staff who are able to attend school will do their best to stay in contact through the usual channels with those students who have to remain at home. Staff will be observing normal school hours, so are unlikely to be in contact outside these hours.
Please encourage your child to make every effort with their studies, whether at home or at school. The more of a routine that can be established, the less unsettling the current situation is for all.
This is a challenging and stressful time for all, and I am very aware of the impact that partially closing the school has on families, so please be assured this is not a decision I have taken lightly.
Thank you for your continued support.
